The Toyota rav4 has been ranked as the 19th out of the 22 affordable compact SUVs. The ranking was based on the analysis of published reviews and test drives of the Toyota Rav4 as well as the reliability and safety data. It was also ranked in the most affordable SUVs with 2 rows and also in the affordable crossover SUVs.

1.       Offers a smooth ride

The 2014 Toyota rav4 offers a smooth ride and plenty of cargo space something which is not commonly found in some of the rivals .This has been attributed by many drivers who have had the chance to test the car. But rival SUVSs offer more powerful engines that make them peppier off the line.

According to the reviewers 2014 rav4s four cylinder engine has sufficient power for daily driving thou a few of them say that acceleration is leisurely. Some reviewers also pointed out that rival crossover such as the voxwagen tiguan offer more powerful engines. The base rav4 gets an EPA estimated 24/31mpg city highway which is competitive with the fuel economy of other affordable compact SUVs, but not as good as the class leaders such as the mazdacx-5. Equipped with all wheel drive, the rav4 achieves 22/29mpg.

Auto writers say that the 2014 rav4 has composed handling and a comfortable, balanced ride bulb that other compact SUVs like Mazda CX-5 and ford escape are sportier behind the wheel. The rav4 comes standard with eight air bags including the driver’s knee air bag which isn’t available in some rivals.

3.       The interior

Most of the auto writers have agreed that the interior of the Toyota rav4 is stylish and modern and according to one of them the reinforced windshield keeps the cabin quiet. According to some test drivers the use of plastic in the cabin detracts you from the design and this helps the drivers to find a comfy  position when driving and apart from that the rear seats have also been designed in such a way that they offer tall adults with plenty of room.

4.       Cargo space

According to the reviewers the cargo space is excellent for the class and they also add that that the optional power liftgate is very convenient for any user. This is because it can be programmed to open to a specific height.

5.       Other features

There is a bevy of features of the Toyota rav4 and this includes a six speaker stereo with touch screen display. A back up camera, Bluetooth and a USB port. The optional upgrades include the dual zone automatic climate control, push button start, premium audio system, a power lift gate, navigation, blind spot monitoring and lane departure alert.

Toyota has really made many transformative changes to the rav4 in both style and substance and the new Rav4 is finally fun to drive and has become one of the good  looking vehicles in the class. The Toyota rav4 was redesigned for the 2013 model year and sees few changes this year.
